Application of Soaking-Surface Alloying Technology to the Surface of the Graphite Electrode

  • A new soaking-surface alloying technology to form a complex oxidationresistant coating on the surface of the graphite electrode is presented.This coating possesses an excellent conductuvity and an oxidation-resistivity,which can effectively reduce the sidewall consumption of the graphite electrode in the arc furnace steelmaking. The basic technical process of this new wey was described in this paper. Discussion included the formation mechanism and its kinetic model and the oxidation-resistant mechanism of this complex coating.
